Institut Van Gogh
A not-for-profit organization founded in 1987 by Dominique-Charles Janssens, the Institut Van Gogh has devoted the past 20 years to preserve and promote the memory, soul and spirit of Vincent van Gogh in Auvers-sur-Oise.
Through a painstakingly accurate restoration over several years, it revived the 1890 atmosphere of the Ravoux Inn where the artist spent his final days, and revealed
Vincent's last bedroom to pilgrims and art lovers from the world over.
Since its re-opening in 1993, this landmark site has met with great public and
critical acclaim.
We at the Institut Van Gogh now wish to crown it with the ultimate achievement: returning an Auvers painting to the very room where it hung in Vincent's time, for all to feast their eyes on a masterpiece in its original setting.
Helping us exhibit one of the seventy pictures painted in Auvers in the room where it belongs is the finest tribute one can pay to Vincent van Gogh.
